Born Gzira Malta 1961, a small group of islands—located in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Sicily.
Raymond’s original trade was a motor mechanic in Malta. But his decision to immigrated to Australia in 1988, was a difficult one, as English was his second language and soon became a major disadvantage for a mechanic. With permanent retina damage to one eye, times were tough and drastic decisions had to be made.
His passion for glass became evident when he met Glass Sculptor, Mr Imre.J Toth. Raymond sat by his side, learning basic techniques on how to melt the borosilicate rods and production line work of small trinkets . After several years of working for others, he developed his own style involving colours, shapes, forms with debt and character. Techniques of annealing the sculptures , manipulating the glass with his newborn artistic flair.
My inspiration comes from Australian Great Barrier Reef. My range of animal figurine gifts are only limited to your imagination. Ch'an artists executed different spontaneous applications in landscapes (considered to be the highest form of Chinese classical art) and still life often sparked by intuitive vision. This was a perceptive, suggestive, and asymmetric style at its most developed and sophisticated best during the Southern Sung period. The Ch'an artist sought to express an understanding or mood of both inner harmony and harmony with the natural surroundings in pictorial form. Interesting to note that the human figure, if represented at all, was vastly diminished and did not intrude upon the magnitude of nature.
